Payments

WHAT’S THE PAY WEEK?

Mon-Sunday. The week cuts off midnight on Sunday. Payments are then processed and hit most banks on Tuesday.

HOW DO DRIVERS GET PAID?

We get $1 per delivery plus 100% of tips. If the tip isn’t enough to hit your region’s minimum pay, then DoorDash will provide boost pay.

DO I GET PAID AUTOMATICALLY?

Yes. You don’t have to do anything. The pay week cuts off on Sunday at 11:59pm. After that, direct deposit is automatic.

WHAT IS BOOST PAY?

DoorDash may provide a boost, taking into account factors such as distance and complexity of the order. As an example, if you have to place the order, you tend to get higher pay.

DO DRIVERS GET THE $1 PLUS 100% OF TIPS PLUS THE BOOST?

No. Let’s say an order without any tip pays $7. If the customer tipped $5, that same order would not end up paying $12.

Here are some examples of how you get paid.

A) Customer doesn’t tip: Order pays $6.
B) Same order, but the customer tipped $4. That order will still pay $6. The breakdown would be $1 delivery fee, $4 tips, $1 boost.
C) Same order, customer tipped $10. Your total would be $11 which breaks down to $1 delivery fee plus $10 tip.

OVER-THE-GUARANTEE PAY

You will only be shown the guaranteed amount upfront, even if the customer tipped more than that amount. It prevents cherry picking. It also means that $6.25 order might end up being a lot more.

If you get an over-the-guarantee, it’ll show up on your app after you complete the delivery and look like this.

CAN I SEE INDIVIDUAL TIPS?

No. You would only be able to see what a customer tipped if you ended the dash after each order. That’s not feasible. To see the amount of tips you received, go into earnings then details.

Update 6/1/19: It’s being slowly rolled where you will be able to see each customer’s tip after the delivery is completed. Check your app for updates.

WHAT IS MY REGION’S MINIMUM PAY?

Since every region is different, you’ll have to ask support. Typically it’s between $4 to $6.

WHAT IS FAST PAY?

Fast Pay allows you to cash out instantly once per day for a $1.99 fee. To qualify, you need to have 25 orders and wait two full weeks. After that, you can enter your debit card details, then you have to wait 7 more days, down to the minute. It takes three total weeks before you can use fast pay.

AFTER I INITIATE FAST PAY, HOW LONG UNTIL IT SHOWS UP IN MY BANK ACCOUNT?

Every bank is different. It shows up in mine instantly. When you use fast pay, you’ll receive two emails. The first notifies you that fast pay was initiated, the second will let you know that the transfer was complete.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CHANGE MY BANKING INFO OR FAST PAY DEBIT CARD?

Click into earnings, then click on the bank icon. If you want to update your banking info, just click update and put in your new account info. If you want to change the debit card for fast pay, click on fast pay but realize you’ll have to wait seven days to use it again.

Note: DoorDash will never call you and ask for any personal information. There’s a common scam across all delivery gigs where a scammer places an order, then calls you (customers can contact you through the app.)

They state that they’re calling from support and need to confirm some account details before you can continue. They’ll even “prove” they’re from support by stating your name (which all customers have) and the items ordered (they placed the order, so they know the items.)

I’ve seen videos of the calls and to a new driver, it can seem very legit and very scary when they threaten to deactivate you unless you confirm your account details. They then want your email and password.

NO ONE from DoorDash will EVER call you to confirm account details – ever! This is 100% a scam. Even if you think it’s real, hang up and call support. If you want to ask them a question that every support person would know, but a scammer wouldn’t, ask them the name of your starting point.
